Deutsch has signed a partnership agreement with Torquay-based Sifam Fibre Optics to distribute its range of high quality fibre optic products to aerospace and defence markets in the UK and Japan.

Deutsch has signed a partnership agreement with Torquay-based Sifam Fibre Optics to distribute its range of high quality fibre optic products to aerospace and defence markets in the UK and Japan The partnership will bring together Deutsch's proven fibre optic interconnection technology with Sifam's market leading fused components, active photonics packaging capability and module integration experience

The two companies, who are already working together on the FONDA (Future Optical Network Distribution for Aerospace) programme, will use their complementary skills and product ranges to offer customers innovative photonic solutions for aerospace and defence applications.

Paul Ellis, CEO of Sifam Fibre Optics said: "We see this partnership as an important step forward in expanding our aerospace and defence business, complimenting Deutsch's widely deployed fibre optic interconnects and offering the customer the best end-to-end solution".

Mark Western, Business Manager of the Deutsch Fibre Optic Group added: "Sifam's extensive photonic expertise and product range will enable customers to access the best in fibre optic component technology when designing systems".

"Sifam's range of rugged fused components has already found an application for video and sensor distribution on an aerospace platform".

"Other new products will be developed and the new active components capability is very applicable for the high reliability systems approach demanded in aerospace".
