In 2005, two years into its relationship with the Luxury Motoryacht Builder Sunseeker, Deutsch's waterproof connector range was the first to meet the E-11 American Yacht and Boat Specification, covering both DC and AC electronics.
A wide range of Deutsch connectors were evaluated for several qualities, including the ability to handle voltages of up to 600V RMS.Tests conducted included vibration (sinusoidal and random), temperature cycling, temperature endurance, thermal shock, flammability, humidity, ice-resistance, fluid immersion, mating endurance, air-leakage and salt mist.
Sunseeker has been specifying the entire range of Deutsch waterproof connecters as standard for 4 years, across its complete range of boats above and below deck, including electronic connections on the fly bridge, main consoles and bilge for both clean and dirty water.
As Matthew Francis, Electrical Manager at Sunseeker confirms: "The bilge area of any boat is a demanding environment for electrical systems".
"Deutsch has worked with us to select electrical connectors that simplify installation and improve system integrity".
Deutsch waterproof connectors are rated up to IP69K, and can withstand temperatures from -55 to +125, +150 or even +175C, depending on the type of connector.
They are suitable for both data and power, and rated up to UL94V0 flammability, as well as being E11 American Yacht and Boat Council and RoHS compliant.
