Dicoll has released a new range of high-brightness daylight and transflective sunlight readable screens.

Dicoll has released a new range of high-brightness daylight and transflective sunlight readable screens Starting with a 10.4in LCD and going up to a 17in LCD the new range of high-brightness flat panel screens from Dicoll are ideal for daylight visibility applications

The brightness specifications are: 1500cd/m2 for the 10.4in panel; 1250cd/m2 for the 12.1in unit; 1600 cd/m2 for the 15in device; and 1000 cd/m2 for the 17in panel.

These screens are due for release at the end of June at prices the company describes as unbelievable when compared with the competition.

In addition to the high-brightness screens, Dicoll also has a range of sunlight readable transflective screens due for release at the same time.

Normal LCD screens are transmissive which means they are lit by a backlight and are easily readable in normal or low light conditions.

However, when faced with the power of direct sunlight they are almost unreadable.

Transflective screens use both a backlight and the power of the sun to create a reflection of the image on the screen.

The stronger the sunlight, the easier they are to read as a more powerful image is reflected off the rear of the display.

The transflective screens will only be available in 10.4, 12.1 and 15in sizes for the time being.

The addition of a new range of low-cost high-brightness and sunlight-readable screens is a significant step forward, but when combined with Dicoll's core touchscreen integration technology they extend the possibilities well beyond the usual applications.

They will be available in open-frame or panel-mount format.
