Digi International has received FIPS certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology for its terminal server, device server and embedded product lines.

Digi International has received Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its terminal server, device server and embedded product lines Digi is the only terminal and device server manufacturer to offer FIPS certification standard across a broad range of products for secure data communications

Digi's serial-to-Ethernet products provide solutions for network-enabling devices so that information can be securely accessed and transmitted over a TCP/IP network or the Internet.

"We offer FIPS-certified technology across three product families and on more than 20 products", said Larry Kraft, Vice President of Americas Sales and Global Marketing, Digi International.

"We are the leading provider of FIPS-certified device networking solutions".

"The FIPS documentation assures Federal Government agencies that our device server, terminal server and embedded product lines meet the necessary standards for secure serial-to-Ethernet communications".

"Secure communications is also relevant to industries such as banking, healthcare, insurance and other industries that demand increased security".

Digi's PortServer TS (1-16 ports), Digi One IAP and Digi Connect product families provides an NIST-certified implementation of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithms to achieve FIPS 197 certification.

Secure AES communications may be used by US Federal departments when an agency determines that sensitive information requires strong cryptographic protection.

It also provides a benchmark for commercial and private organisations when determining the security standards of their serial-to-Ethernet communications needs.

Digi's device server, terminal server and embedded product lines now feature AES, DES and Triple DES security standards.

"By providing AES, DES and triple DES encryption algorithms, our products enable secure connections that are compatible with virtually any TCP/IP data communications", Kraft added.

"Also, because our products have been approved at the AES algorithm level, customers can claim FIPS compliance by simply upgrading to the latest firmware version that is linked to the NIST certification document".
