Digi International has released a new model of its ConnectPort WAN VPN The ConnectPort WAN HSDPA is an upgradeable, commercial grade cellular router, which provides secure, high speed connectivity to remote devices and locations over new 3.5G cellular HSDPA (High Speed Data Packet Access) networks
The product is shipped with a HSDPA module already installed.
HSDPA, known as mobile DSL, is a UMTS dataservice.
As well as improved datarates of up to 1.8Mbit/s, users benefit from a reduction on latency, improving the round trip time for applications typically below 100ms.
This allows customers to use the ConnectPort WAN as the solution to connect remote offices if ADSL is not available.
