The Aaeon ETX-625 allows designers to significantly reduce development lead times and risks, while creating a future proof and flexible processor-based solution.

New from Display Solutions, the Aaeon ETX-625 allows designers to significantly reduce development lead times and risks, while creating a future proof and flexible processor-based solution The EXT-625 is the latest product in Aaeon's ETX CPU system on module (SOM) range, a modular solution that comprises a carrier board and a sub-CPU board

The core design is incorporated on the sub-CPU board, enabling upgrade of the system simply by replacing this board.

Aaeon's ETX CPU modules have been developed as a series of powerful and reliable computing platforms, which offer processor options that range from Via's Eden processor to Intel's most powerful processors.

These modules differ from other embedded PC designs by giving the designer a range of flexible performance choices that can be quickly implemented thereby shortening product development time.

The designer can choose how common PC peripheral functions, such as graphics, USB, serial, parallel ports, keyboard/mouse, Ethernet, and IDE are implemented and optimise how these functions are physically implemented.

This method uses only the specifications that are necessary, thereby greatly reducing the overall cost of ownership.

The ETX-625 module gives developers a choice between a low power Pentium III processor or an ultra-low-voltage Celeron processor, the processor is supported by Via's Twister and VT82C686B chipsets to provide excellent performance.

A 144-pin SODIMM socket allows up to 512Mbyte memory to be added.

PCI and ISA bus are included so the board can be easily expanded.

The ETX-625 board can be networked by 10/100Base-TX Ethernet and includes USB1.1 I/O.

The ETX-625 board packs a raft of powerful multimedia features into its tiny 4.5 x 3.74in form factor.

An onboard AGP 4X 2D/3D graphics accelerator supplies resolutions up to and including 1600 x 1200, using 32Mbyte of shared memory.

CRT and LCD/TV displays are supported, with 36bit TTL and LVDS interfaces available.

Superior audio has also been integrated onto the board with the inclusion of an AC97 2.0 stereo codec.
