Fanless embedded computer is supplied in a robust CE enclosure which is designed for DIN rail or wall mounting.

Diamond Point International has launched a fanless embedded computer it reckons offers unparalleled simplicity and flexibility of configuration at a very modest cost It is supplied in a robust CE enclosure which is designed for DIN rail or wall mounting

The RD-103 is capable of integrating a range of processors from the cost-effective 800MHz Pentium/Celeron right up to the 1.8GHz Pentium M with 2Mbyte of level 2 cache memory for maximum performance coupled with low power consumption.

Furthermore, Intel Core2 Duo processor support will be available shortly.

This state-of-the-art embedded computer from Diamond Point supports up to 1Gbyte of DDR-SDRAM via a SODIMM socket and integrates an Intel 82855GME 400MHz FSB chipset and an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 video controller with up to 32Mbyte UMA Video RAM providing WUXGA/QXGA (2048 x 1536) resolution with 2D and 3D acceleration, and a CRT port.

Available with a range of 1 to 64Gbyte 2.5in industrial solid state drives or 120Gbyte rotating hard disk memory as standard, the system may be supplied with higher capacity solid state drives to special order.

A CompactFlash socket is incorporated to give even greater functionality.

Fanless operation together with solid state drive memory makes for the utmost reliability due to no moving parts.

The RD-103 integrates a host of interfaces, including four serial ports, optionally configured as either all RS232 or two RS422/two RS232, three USB 2.0 EHCI ports, one 10/100BaseT Ethernet port, one Enhanced parallel port and a PS/2 keyboard/mouse port.

A further USB port has front panel access for easy data loading and field updates.

A GPS input is provided for applications requiring either accurate positioning or timing functions.

Expansion slots for three PC/104 or PC/104+ I/O cards are incorporated to deliver the utmost versatility.

A wide range of optional third-party approved I/O cards are also available on request, including Profibus, CANbus, Bitbus, eight-port serial RS232/RS422/RS485, digital and analogue, single channel dual redundant 1553, eight-channel ARINC 429 and quad frame grabber.

The unit offers a 0 to 60C operating temperature range, a 5 to 95% (noncondensing) operating humidity range and is CE/EMI tested.

A dip brazed chassis with Mil38999 connectors is optionally available for military/aerospace applications.

All system components are manufactured lead-free and are RoHS compliant.

Operated from a 40W power supply with a 10 to 30V DC input voltage range, the unit offers a low power consumption of just 13W at 800MHz or 25W at 1.8GHz, making it compatible with the stringent demands of mobile environments.

The RD-103 comes preloaded with either Windows XP or Linux operating systems and can be specially configured for Windows XP Embedded, LynxOS and VX-Works.

Diamond Point's extremely versatile new RD-103 embedded computer is ideally suited to a very wide variety of applications, including telecommunications, networking, industrial control, military/aerospace, oil and gas manufacture and distribution, medical instrumentation, automotive and gaming.
