Test suite ensures DVB-T receiver compliance
Digital TV Labs will cut a major hurdle to market for receiver suppliers with the launch of the world's first pan-European DVB-T test suite, Evora, at this year's IBC.
DVB-T test suite covers all European variations
Pan-European DVB-T test suite offers complete country-by-country software conformance tests, giving manufacturers the advantage of early market entry, with high-quality products and minimal returns.
The company delivers structured and professional testing for DVB-T receiver RF and software functions and additionally for analogue tuner capability.
The field testing tours are continuously operational and cover key European markets as well as the new DVB-T regions.
Field testing is provided for DVB-T tuners, MPEG decoder chips, COFDM demodulator chips as well as DVB-T receivers.
Testing sites are selected by key markets, new or changing DVB-T regions and particular transmitters that are known to cause receiver failures.
With experience gained testing over 50 DVB-T platforms into Europe, the skilled team has built up valuable local knowledge of specific sites with challenging conditions.
Already proven on two successful pilot tours, Digital TV Labs' special purpose vehicles are fully equipped mobile testing labs.
Keith Potter, CEO commented: "Before we offered this service, typically OEMs would rely on poorly equipped engineers with inferior signal access in hotels or sometimes using local offices and distributors doing ad-hoc, random tests".
"Now for the first time DVB-T receiver manufacturers can get professional European-wide coverage at a lower cost".
A key issue facing manufacturers is understanding and reproducing receiver failures reported from the field so they can be quickly addressed in the development lab.
Digital TV Labs provides real-time detailed testing reports, transport stream analysis, RF spectrum and constellation information to its clients to ensure any defects are well understood and can be reproduced.
