After two successful years, the National Electrical and Electronic Directives Show (NEEDS) is set to co-locate with Drives and Controls, Electrex and Airtech at the UK's NEC during May 2006.

NEEDS, which will be the UK's premier 'regulatory compliance' event, consists of high level seminars and workshops, which will provide the perfect counterpoint to these and the other co-located trade shows - MACH, Subcon and Weldex.

NEEDS 2006 will be a three-day conference with an associated exhibition to demystify electrical and electronic Directives, regulations (recommendations) and national and international legislation.

The conference will address the needs of designers, manufacturers, importers, exporters, retailers and third-party maintenance and service suppliers whose products have an electrical or electronic content.

Prominent among the Directives (legislation) addressed in the seminars will be WEEE, RohS, EuP, EMC, ATEX and Part P of the building regulations - all of which are key sales drivers for exhibitors at the co-located shows.

"The compliance conference is an opportunity to address the regulations and Directives that actually affect our exhibitors", explained Ian Atkinson, the event's organiser.

"It will also attract a new group of visitors to augment the 40,000 already expected across the other six exhibitions".

"Last year the quality of the speakers was excellent", said Graham Mays, organiser of the NEEDS conference.

"In 2005, Intellect, DEFRA and the DTI were all represented, while exhibitors included TUV Product Service, Tecan and BSI Product Services".

"It is essential for every company whose products have an electrical or electronic content to have access to the latest status of these regulatory compliance issues", concluded Mays.

"These conferences will enable such companies to evaluate the implications for their business and address them successfully".
