Patching system answers HDTV demands
A new connector and patching system meets the high datarates and exacting signal requirements of high definition television.
EMC filters were specified by the machine designers at Yamazaki Mazak in Japan, but it is the company's policy to source components locally.
Richard Hull, Electrical Design Manager, explains: "We asked a number of suppliers to tender".
"Deltron won the work on the basis of having a suitable product, and an efficient, design and test service based here in the UK".
The QTN range is a comprehensive series of advanced machine tools with integral motor driven spindles to 30kW.
The Deltron components are standard 100 and 160A three-phase EMC filters for compliance to EU regulations, but the design is such that the chosen filter had to fit an unusually shaped space 300 x 200 x 200mm.
Deltron repackaged a standard filter, creating a more cost-effective solution for Mazak than a complete bespoke design.
Precompliance tests were carried out by the Deltron team at Mazak within a couple of days, with no problems.
This isn't the first time that Deltron and Mazak have worked together; the two companies have enjoyed a productive relationship over the last eight years.
Richard Hull again: "The advantage of working with Deltron on a project like this is their ability to respond quickly when we need them".
"We have had engineers on site carrying our full precompliance testing with just a day or two's notice".
"That kind of service is a real bonus when there is pressure on project schedules".
