Rotary switch technology turns to a long life
Duraswitch has recently completed testing of its Thincoder rotary switch technology with copper-on-flex circuits.
Commenting on the new project, Neil Armstrong, Managing Director IN2TEC, said, "The customer had previously used discrete mechanical switches, which were expensive to build into the panels and potentially problematic in the outdoor, all-weather environment.
Duraswitch's PushGate technology can be sealed within the panel, still delivering a distinct tactile click and is extremely robust, representing a significant cost reduction and an increase in reliability at the same time.
In addition, the new panel design will be easy to clean whereas the old panel tended to gather dirt and grime that was not easily removed".
IN2TEC's win represents the fifth manufacturer in the fuel management industry to adopt Duraswitch technology.
Duraswitch first announced its entry into the gas-pump industry in April 2001, when its technology was selected for gas-grade selector keys, soft keys, and point-of-sale keypads.
"We are pleased to see continued traction in this industry", said Tim Kuhn, Vice President Business Development of Duraswitch.
"It is a credit to our licensees, who continue to expand their customer base by introducing the benefits that Duraswitch technology offers".
