Duraswitch has extended an existing licence with Memtron Technologies to sister company, Advanced Input Devices.
Duraswitch has extended an existing licence with Memtron Technologies to sister company, Advanced Input Devices (AID), a world leading manufacturer of custom control panels, user interfaces and specialised keyboards.
Under the terms of the agreement, AID will be authorised to market, manufacture and distribute Duraswitch's electronic switch technologies.
Both Memtron and AID are divisions of Esterline Technologies.
"Duraswitch has a strong domestic base of licensees that specialise in flat-panel membrane switch manufacturing.
AID adds to our licensee base a company who is not only strong in the flat panel market, but also has the capability to manufacture complete input products and control panels incorporating keypads, cursor control devices, displays and multimedia options.
Such turnkey solutions enable us to meet the requirements of customers with advanced input needs and sophisticated applications", commented Tim Kuhn, Duraswitch Vice President, Business Development.
Advanced Input Devices boasts the largest and most comprehensive engineering capability in the input industry.
AID's experience and skills include product development, electronic design, packaging, electronic assembly and product testing.
This licence expands AID's product line to include Duraswitch's unique magnetically coupled switch portfolio - furthering its capabilities in switch integration and control panel design.
"After seeing the successes Memtron has had in various industries with this technology, we investigated the benefits for ourselves", said Chris Newman, Vice President of Sales for AID.
"The reliability and design integration capabilities are unique and enable us to offer additional ways for our customers to differentiate their products".
"AID has established relationships with OEMs in medical, instrumentation and information/data management industries - key markets for Duraswitch technologies", explained Bob Brilon, President and CEO of Duraswitch.
"For AID, this licence opens up new design opportunities.
For Duraswitch, we are excited about the opportunity to expand awareness of our patented Thincoder, MagnaMouse and PushGate technologies".
