"Duraswitch PushGate technology acts as the actuator under the same keycap used with previous switches.
This maintains the familiar look and tactile feel of mechanical switches, but in an updated, slim profile, electronic package", said Tim Kuhn, Vice President Business Development for Duraswitch.
"The switch package has been reduced by 80% from 2.5in to about 0.5in, and by eliminating the electrical wire harnesses previously required, Duraswitch technology can reduce cost and provide a highly reliable, electronic switch".
"PushGate's thin profile makes it a natural for table top devices", Kuhn continued.
"This is really just a first step.
With the lighting and integration capabilities that our technology offers, we feel that we have just begun to tap into the potential for the gaming market".
Duraswitch technology can be paired with LEDs, fibre-optic or electroluminescent technology compared with the traditional option of incandescent lighting offered with many mechanical switches.
Because panels with Duraswitch technology can be flush-mounted to the exterior of the machine, retrofitting, repairing or updating panels is simple and cost-effective.
Billed as the pre-eminent show for the worldwide entertainment industry, G2E will be held from 16th to 18th September in Las Vegas.
