Rotary switch technology turns to a long life
Duraswitch has recently completed testing of its Thincoder rotary switch technology with copper-on-flex circuits.
Rotary switch takes pushbutton onboard
The Thincoder-PB offers a pushbutton selector function in one simple switch that is easily incorporated into a membrane switch panel or used as a discrete switch.
"The customer wanted to simplify both their procurement and assembly processes.
We could provide them with a complete assembly including pushbuttons and rotors, thus they could eliminate vendors and secondary processes such as assembly and soldering that would be required with other rotary switches.
Thincoder also eliminates through-holes in the front of the control panel, allowing an integrated panel that is environmentally sealed, something that was important in this harsh environment".
Duraswitch Thincoder is a thin, noninvasive rotary switch with a package depth below the overlay of less than 0.085in.
The technology eliminates secondary processes and offers lower component costs.
Thincoder is easily integrated on flex circuit with other Duraswitch technologies such as the PushGate and MagnaMouse, as well as traditional technologies such as dome and membrane switches.
"Thincoder technology is customisable and can be used with any type of switch technology.
This is a great benefit to us in being able to provide customers with a complete switch solution", Accattoli continued.
Tim Kuhn, Vice President Business Development for Duraswitch added: "Tastitalia was named licensee of the year for the second year in a row for their commitment to Duraswitch technologies.
With a strong marketing team and solid engineering experience, they are taking full advantage of their competitive edge as a licensee in introducing Duraswitch technologies, designing to meet the customer's needs and winning the business".
Thincoder technology can function as a potentiometer, encoder or selector switch and offers customisable detent options.
