The new iQue lockset features PushGate technology as the actuator under metal keycaps.
The first generation iQue lockset with PushGate in a flat-panel keypad was recognised as one of the "Top 10" products during its debut at the Locksmith Ledger World Trade Show in Reno, Nevada in 2001.
"The Duraswitch technology has been a fantastic addition to our product line", said William Sporre, Director of Global Sales and Marketing, Marks USA.
"We use PushGate as the actuator under keycaps and in a flat-panel design, both offering the same durability and tactile feedback that our customers expect from Marks, and can't find in other products".
Sporre continued: "When designing the iQue, we surveyed current and potential customers to find out what their major concerns were.
Keypad failure was overwhelmingly the main problem with electronic locks.
We chose PushGate because of its superior durability.
Looking back, we are thrilled that we made that decision.
Our customers using the Marks' iQue locksets have found that the product has outperformed anything they have used in the past".
"The new model in the iQue lineup highlights the versatility of the PushGate technology", added Tim Kuhn, Vice President Business Development for Duraswitch.
"Many of the products using PushGate today are flat-panel, membrane-type designs.
But, the PushGate technology is a great solution as the actuator under metal or custom keycaps as well".
Duraswitch PushGate is unique patented pushbutton technology that combines the advantages of discrete mechanical and flat-panel membrane switches into one design.
Using the simple combination of a metal actuator and a permanent magnet, PushGate offers superior tactile feedback that does not degrade over time or use.
Because it uses the natural force of magnetism instead of flexing domes or springs, PushGate is substantially more durable than conventional switch technologies.
