Dawar licenses switch technology

Duraswitch has executed a nonexclusive licence agreement with Dawar Technologies, a US-based manufacturer of user interface products.

Duraswitch has executed a nonexclusive licence agreement with Dawar Technologies, a US-based manufacturer of user interface products.

"Dawar is a preferred supplier for a medical device manufacturer with annual revenues in excess of $750 million that wants the attributes Duraswitch technologies offer as a competitive advantage for their consumer medical devices", said Tim Kuhn, Vice President Business Development, Duraswitch.

"Duraswitch and Dawar engineers will work with the OEM's designers to create a custom Thincoder rotary switch".

"The OEM will work with their own quality plastics suppliers on the final switch construction, then Dawar will assemble and integrate on a Dawar-produced flex circuit".

Dennis Fitzgerald, Vice President Manufacturing, Dawar, said: "Thincoder technology is the best fit given the space and environmental requirements for this consumer medical product".

"Our customer also likes the customization capabilities, including the various electrical output options".

Duraswitch Thincoder is a thin rotary switch design integrated onto a flex circuit.

As a cost savings, the technology eliminates secondary assembly and solder processes.

Thincoder is easily integrated on flex circuit with other Duraswitch technologies such as the PushGate and MagnaMouse, as well as traditional technologies such as dome and membrane switches.

"The medical industry continues to be a strong market for Duraswitch technologies".
