Quarter-VGA display takes direct serial drive
DV3's latest quarter-VGA display offers the benefits of easy readability in all environments combined with cost-effective production technology.
The overall size is a compact 35.5 x 27.75 x 1.7mm.
Using high-contrast FSTN technology the display is readable under all conditions with a wide viewing angle and wide operating temperature suitable for both indoor and external application.
To ease integration the display is fitted with a flexible 18-way solderable cable and can be backlit with technologies such as EL or LED.
"People expect to see good quality images and information everywhere", says Nick How, managing director of DV3 Displays.
"And high cost has been a traditional barrier to implementing graphic images on all types of lower quantity products.
We believe with an entry cost of less than GBP5, product design and marketing can increase usability and functionality with little or no impact on end user pricing".
Further low-cost display technologies are planned for introduction over the coming months from DV3 Displays as its latest volume manufacturing plant in China gets underway.
