Dy 4 Systems has introduced the industry's most comprehensive VxWorks/Tornado board support package and driver suite for its top-performance ruggedised VME board, the SVME/DMV-181.

Compatible with Tornado 2.2, the latest version of Wind River's development environment, the BSP provides a powerful set of libraries and drivers enabling developers to quickly and easily integrate the SVME/DMV-181 into defence and aerospace applications running on the widely adopted VxWorks real-time operating system (also supports development on Tornado 2.0.x and 2.1).

Based on the 500MHz PowerPC 7410 processor with AltiVec technology, the SVME/DMV-181 SBC offers powerful microprocessing capability and an industry-leading set of I/Os including six serial and dual Fast Ethernet and USB interfaces.

Beyond the standard drivers for Ethernet, SCSI, PCI and serial, the new BSP supports the onboard Universe DMA, PCI DMA, discrete I/O, built-in-test (BIT) firmware and other timer, clock and reprogramming functions.

Also, the BSP and driver suite supports a watchdog timer, USB, synchronous serial interfaces, nonvolatile RAM and other board functions.

In conjunction with Dy 4's highly developed foundation firmware, developers can perform programming and diagnostic functions including built-in-testing with Dy 4's card level diagnostics module, Flash reprogramming with its nonvolatile memory programmer and even low-level debugging using its general purpose monitor.
