Big bandwidth boosts DSP performance on VME board
New from Dy 4 Systems, the Champ-AV II quad 500MHz PowerPC 7410 board uses Dy 4's novel QuadFlow nonblocking architecture.
Designed for space-constrained applications, the CompactCore family includes a choice of PowerPC SBCs, real-time operating system support and a ruggedised PMC carrier card (SCP/DCP-201) that extends system I/O flexibility through the use of off-the-shelf ruggedised PMC modules.
Measuring only 100 x 160mm, the 3U form factor is intended for space and weight constrained systems that require high performance processing with low power dissipation.
The SCP/DCP-122 offers an extremely low overall power consumption of only 12W, due in part to the 750FX's inherently low power dissipation and its dynamic power management.
This allows the 122 to easily accommodate higher-power PMC modules such as graphics or Fibre Channel.
With an onboard 64bit/66MHz PMC site, the 122 can accommodate high-performance PMC modules directly onboard, with maximum PCI bandwidth between the PMC and the 122's 256Mbyte of synchronous DRAM main memory.
Up to 64Mbyte of Flash is available for program storage, where applications demand fast startup times and must be executed directly.
In addition, the 122 provides a rich complement of I/O, including a 10/100Mbit Ethernet port, three serial channels (RS232/485), 16bit of discrete digital I/O and a USB port.
The 122 can be used in either cPCI system or peripheral slots and supports the full 64bit/66MHz cPCI backplane bus.
A comprehensive board support package (BSP) and driver suite for Wind River's VxWorks/Tornado provides support for all the onboard devices and provides an applications programming interface (API) compatible with Dy 4's extensive 6U VME line of PowerPC SBCs.
Evaluation versions of the SCP/DCP-122 will be available this summer.
