Big bandwidth boosts DSP performance on VME board
New from Dy 4 Systems, the Champ-AV II quad 500MHz PowerPC 7410 board uses Dy 4's novel QuadFlow nonblocking architecture.
ICS will provide the analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue products and expertise in the field of SDR.
"This is a natural fit between our two companies", said Ian Stalker, Dy 4's DSP Product Manager.
"Our customers are building SDR systems and want to work with suppliers who are committed to providing them with pretested, integrated solutions.

Rugged carrier puts mezzanine cards on cPCI SBCs
Dy 4 Systems has added the SCP/DCP-201 conduction-cooled carrier card to its CompactCore line of ruggedised cPCI products.
Dy 4 has customers using ICS products with our Champ-AV II, and we are building on these successes by establishing joint sales, marketing and engineering programmes to offer assured integration of our product streams for the SDR market".
ICS software defined radio products provide acquisition of sensor data from intermediate frequency (IF) signals, as well as advanced digital down-conversion (DDC) technology.
Combined with flexible clocking schemes, the products provide the ideal front-end solution for a variety of radio-frequency systems such as phased array radar, electronic warfare, signal intelligence, satellite communications and multiservice digital radios.
"With the ever increasing performance of our SDR products, it has become critical to work more closely with a leading provider of high-performance, rugged DSP processing solutions", said Angsuman Rudra, ICS Director of Radio Products.
"By teaming with Dy 4, we will bring products to market faster with well integrated and tested SDR subsystems, which will shorten the development cycles of our mutual customers".
The integration of the ICS PMC modules with the Dy 4 Champ-AV II Quad PowerPC DSP card allows customers to build next-generation systems taking maximum advantage of a COTS approach using VME and PMC board form factors and the popular VxWorks real time operating system.
Using the ICS-554 four-input, 16-channel PMC module, designers can achieve an unprecedented density of 32 channels per slot.
Wideband systems can take advantage of the exceptional 480Mbyte/s transfer rate that has been attained between the PMC and the Champ-AV II.
The ICS receiver modules support external clocking, allowing coherent sampling of large multi-element antenna arrays.
When combined with Dy 4's StarFabric switched interconnect technology, customers can scale processing systems to build next-generation electronically scanned radars and other directional radio systems.
