The latest version of the leading-edge SVME/DMV-182 single board computer incorporates dual-channel MIL-STD-1553B interface.

The latest version of the leading-edge SVME/DMV-182 single board computer incorporates dual-channel MIL-STD-1553B interface For the first time, Dy 4 has integrated the popular MIL-STD-1553B interface without using a PMC mezzanine module

With the 1553 option installed, the SVME/DMV-182 still has two PMC sites available for use, offering the industry's highest functional density in a single-slot, rugged VMEbus card.

If the functionality offered by two PMC modules is not required initially, the unused site(s) are still a valuable asset to support future system upgrades.

Many of Dy 4's customers are upgrading aircraft that have an existing MIL-STD-1553B infrastructure, but which will be in service for many years to come.

Dy 4 can now offer the best of the old and the new with integrated 1553, Gigabit Ethernet and two free PMC sites for further I/O expansion in one powerful single-board computer.

Dy 4's novel interface personality module (IPM) provides the breakthrough technology, enabling dual 1553 channels to be integrated onto the SVME/DMV-182 without affecting the two PMC sites.

The IPM allows backwards pin compatibility with earlier generations of PowerPC SBCs or the addition of new I/O interfaces.

The MIL-STD-1553B IPM provides the 182 with one or two 1553 channels.

Based on micro-ACE devices from DDC, the module supports bus controller, remote terminal and bus monitor (BC, RT, MT) modes, independently selectable for each channel.

The IPM supports the full range of 1553 variants with support for 1553A, 1553B Notice 2, and STANAG 3838 protocols.

The 1553 interface is supported by Dy 4's proven driver software package that provides a simple, yet robust, application program interface (API) to the 1553 physical devices, thus hiding the complexity of the hardware.

The driver software represents the culmination of approximately six years of continuous software development and four generations of SBCs.

With more than a hundred customer projects already using the software, its backward compatibility with previous hardware and software provides customers with an upgrade path that preserves their software investment.

Dy 4's 1553 driver software is supported for use with the VxWorks and Integrity real-time operating systems.

The SVME/DMV-182 SBC features dual PowerPC 7455/7457 processors at up to 1.3GHz, up to 1Gbyte of DDR SDRAM with ECC, 128Mbyte Flash, six serial ports, two USB 2.0 ports and two 64bit PMC sites on independent PCIbuses, one supporting 66MHz and the other offering 133MHz PCI-X.

The board follows Dy 4's practice of providing slot compatibility with previous generations of SBCs, so customers have a drop-in technology upgrade solution for older systems.

Demonstrating the commitment to this long-term strategy, the SVME/DMV-182 is slot compatible with Dy 4's three previous SBC's, the SVME/DMV-178, 179 and 181.

The SVME/DMV-182 is available now.

The SVME/DMV-182 with 1553 will be available in Q4 2003.
