A RoHS-compliant ETXexpress computer-on-module conforms to the PICMG COM Express standard and implements the latest technologies for serial differential signalling.

New from Evalue, the ESM-2850 is a RoHS-compliant ETXexpress computer-on-module that conforms to the PICMG COM Express standard and implements the latest technologies based on serial differential signalling such as PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, SATA, LVDS and serial DVO withing an extremely compact size of 95 x 125mm Adopting Intel Pentium M and Intel 915GM core, ESM-2850 allows high clock speed up to 2.26GHz and 1Gbyte DDR2 memory capacity at 533MHz to address the demands for intensive process capabilities

Integrating these impressive features, the ESM-2850 enables designers to make a smooth transition from using ETX modules with their legacy PCI and IDE interfaces to PCI Express and SATA.

Besides the features above, the integrated ICH6-M Southbridge chipset also supports the latest Intel high definition audio that enables increased bandwidth for high quality audio.

Supplementary functions include high speed I/O such as eight USB 2.0 ports, two serial ATA interfaces, and 8bit GPIO pins for user's own device configuration; Ethernet communication is provided by an onboard Marvell 88E8053 Gigabit Ethernet controller.

The Intel 915GM GMCH chipset incorporates Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel GMA 900) core which can deliver over 1.5x faster performance than previous Intel graphics chipsets.

The chipset supports Microsoft DirectX 9 for advanced 3D graphic acceleration and multiple display signals like CRT, HDTV encoder, as well as dual independent pipe for dual-channel LVDS panel supporting up to 1600 x 1200 resolutions.

In addition to its onboard graphics support, the ESM-2850's onboard PCI Express system bus accommodates further extensions with high-end PCI Express x16 graphics addon cards and four extra PCI Express x1 interface devices.

More expansion is available with four PCIbus interfaces.

ETXexpress adopts the same concept as the ETX computer-on-module standard.

Because the custom baseboard is designed separately from the CPU module, it can easily be developed into specific form factor within the shortest time-frame and offers the fastest time to market solution for OEM customers.

However, ETXexpress adapts ETX signalling standards such as UDMA, Ethernet, LPT, USB 1.1 and serial signals to high speed interfaces including PCI Express, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0.

This provides an alternative option for elevated computing performance.

Potential applications for ESM-2850 include test and measurement, medical, security, transportation and automotive industries that require real-time graphics processing capability.
