A new pushbutton that offers multicoloured illumination has been launched by EAO.

A new pushbutton that offers multicoloured illumination has been launched by EAO.

Developed specifically for audio, video, mixing-desk and lighting console applications, the PCB-mounting Series 95 pushbutton can be illuminated with up to three different colour LEDs.

The switch can change colour when pressed and maintain this colour until pressed again, making it ideal for showing the different operating status of equipment.

Full-face illumination provides excellent visibility - even when viewed from the side (key to the design) - making it simple for the user to view the status of each function at a glance.

This novel product also features a noiseless switching action so as not affect the purity of sound within a recording or broadcast environment.

It has a service life of up to five million operations.

EAO's Series 95 is available in two sizes: 19.05mm square with up to three different coloured surface-mount LEDs and 12.7mm square with up to two LEDs.

The larger pushbutton is available with either a convex or concave lens, and the smaller one with a flat lens only.

The overall height is 24mm maximum and features one N/O self-cleaning gold-plated switch element rated at a minimum 1mV DC/100uA and maximum 48V DC/50uA.

The switches are snap-mounted to the PCB for easy flow soldering, and no positioning tool is required.

For marking purposes the diffuser can be either printed or engraved, or a film insert can be fitted between the diffuser and the lens.
