The MDK-001 is a Marmalade development kit that features the Sharp LH79520.

Marmalade, short for "modular ARM application LCD appliance device electronics", is a single-board computer powered by an ARM720T which is a complete system on chip with exponential integration capabilities in a wide range of applications.

The LH79520 combines a 32bit ARM720T RISC, colour LCD controller, cache, local SRAM and many other peripherals to offer a high level of integration that lowers overall system costs, thereby reducing development cycle time and accelerates time to market.

The MDK-001 includes embedded Linux and a VGA 640 x 480 colour touch screen LCD, which is ideal for applications such as electronic picture frames, digital visual messaging, home automation or for industrial controls.

Marmalade also includes Ethernet, a touch screen controller, CompactFlash and Smart Media memory slots, two PWM, one parallel port, two serial ports, one IR port, 4Mbyte Flash and 16Mbyte SDRAM.

Street price of the MDK-001 is $299.

"We are excited to offer the lowest cost Linux embedded kit on the market today.

We designed the Marmalade with robust features, making it an ideal choice for control applications requiring a graphical user interface", says Randy Schafer, President and Chief Design Engineer Earth Computer Technologies.
