At a retail price of $199 Earth's ezLCD-001-EDK evaluation kit meets the needs of OEMs, industrial manufacturers and hobbyists that require small or large quantities of a low-cost colour LCD in a very small form factor that has low power consumption and is easy to connect.

Earth is simultaneously launching the ezLCD-001 display module which excludes the evaluation board and with its lower price is aimed at OEMs looking for volume discounts at larger quantities.

"We received a lot of interest in the ezLCD at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January, and we are excited about the demand we see in the marketplace for a complete low-cost small-form-factor colour TFT LCD that is so versatile", comments Jeff Kemp, Marketing Manager at EarthLCD.

Incorporating both RS232 and USB interfaces and a 240 x 160 2.7in serial TFT colour graphic LCD module with multiple-font text layer, the default serial data rate of 115,200baud is user-changeable to any standard speeds between 2400 and 115,200baud.

Additionally, ezLCD-001 includes SPI and I2C serial interfaces and 20 discrete inputs/outputs.

Internal DC/DC convertor accounts for a wide supply voltage range of 3-7V DC.

The ezLCD-001 can be powered by USB port or external power supply.

The ezLCD-001 is driven by an extensive set of graphic, text and system instructions including: download_bitmap, set_color, select_font, print, line, circle, point, set_baudrate etc.

The firmware of ezLCD-001 can be updated via an embedded RS232 port.

The ezLCD-001 incorporates 96Kbyte of Flash and 4Kbyte of EEPROM available for custom fonts, icons etc which can be uploaded via RS232 or USB.

The many features included in the ezLCD-001 make it an excellent choice as a PC status monitor, embedded system display, or suitable for integration into a diverse array of industrial products when an instant solution is needed for a small feature-rich display.
