A key component of the industry initiative is elata's portal, which is powered by elata's service delivery and subscriber management platform, elata senses.
The portal provides elata's device partners, who are developing handsets with the latest capabilities such as Java, MMS, MP3 and UA/Prof, with the reassurance that their handsets can be tested in a secure, realistic environment and conform to the over-the-air (OTA) delivery standards set out by the MIDP Next Generation Experts Group.

"Siemens appreciate the value that the elata senses portal brings to the industry", said Peter Richardson, Chief Technical Officer, Siemens Mobile.
"Further to launching the Siemens M50 Java device, the elata senses portal provides both our developer community and device teams with the facility to demonstrate the true functionality of the device with no overheads".
The elata senses portal service also enables content partners to upload their services and applications, free of charge, via a Web based interface to elata's secure portal.
Via the portal, content partners can ensure their new services and applications are compatible with the latest handsets from leading device manufacturers and that they can be easily delivered, configured and downloaded.
Once issued with a password, partners have unrestricted access to the portal to manage the content and handsets on trial.
"We find the elata senses portal a valuable tool to test the entertainment services we're developing for Java handsets", explains Juha Ruskola, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Goodliving, a Finnish Java game provider and technology house.
"As well as enabling us to provide real-time demonstrations to our customers, the portal ensures our services conform to the over-the-air delivery standards and can be easily downloaded on target handsets".
Matt Hooper, Vice President of Marketing and Alliances, elata said: "Service delivery and download is one of the hottest issues in the mobile industry today, with service providers hungry to drive revenues by delivering quality, user-friendly services and applications to their subscribers.
What the industry needs is innovative partner initiatives, like the elata elevates programme, to leverage the skills of the mobile industry's key players, speed up data services deployment and ensure open standards are accepted across the industry".
The elata senses portal conforms to the industry standards defined for Java technology on next generation handsets, and the delivery of Java applications to mobile devices.
elata is a key member of the MIDP Next Generation Experts Group and the Java specifications request groups (JSR 118 and JSR 124).
Membership of both groups makes elata instrumental in defining the standards of Java technology on next generation handsets and the delivery of Java applications to mobile devices.
