Low dark current aids diode sensitivity

An Elekon Industries product story

Elekon Industries has developed an ultra-high-speed low-dark-current InGaAs PIN photodiode.

Elekon Industries has developed an ultra-high-speed low-dark-current InGaAs PIN photodiode.

The low dark current allows the EFD Series to have a higher sensitivity when detecting incoming light and it responds to near IR so longer fibre-optic cables can be run.

The EFD Series comes in the standard TO-46 metal can package, but can be packaged in the plastic ST-type or metallic ST-type receptacle.

Applications range from high-speed fibre optics for communications to medical sensors.

The EFD Series features dark current with a typical range from 0.1 to 0.3nA (when VR = 5V), sensitive areas range from 0.025 to 3mm, a responsivity of 0.9A/W (when VR = 5V, at 1300nm), and a typical bandwidth of 1.5GHz (when VR = 5V).

All versions of the EFD series are available now and pricing starts at US $20.00 each in quantities of 1000.

All of Elekon's products are available through its network of distributors, value-added resellers and system integrators in Asia, the USA and Europe.
