Transmeta Corp has joined the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium as a member of its board of directors.

Transmeta Corp has joined EEMBC as a member of the consortium's board of directors.

As a member of the EEMBC board, Transmeta will enjoy full voting rights on all issues decided by the consortium and have access to source code for all of the EEMBC benchmarks.

This will allow Transmeta to take an active role in the development of future benchmarks that will become industry standards.

"We are delighted to welcome Transmeta as a board member and participant in the development of the next generation of EEMBC benchmarks", said Markus Levy, EEMBC President.

"Transmeta's considerable experience in developing processors for portable computing devices makes its involvement in EEMBC particularly valuable as we move forward with the development of benchmarks for handheld digital entertainment systems".
