In order to significantly reduce inspection cycle times, Ekra has developed a combined hardware and software package for its E4 and X5 printer series The new 32bit/XP-version package solution includes a preinstalled network interface card under Windows XP, a preinstalled CD writer and a preinstalled software solution with an integrated internet browser under Windows XP

These new features help reduce PCB inspection cycle times from 2.3 to only 0.9s, and stencil inspection cycle times from 1.4 to 0.6s.

Ekra delivers the 32bit/XP-version concept as standard across the E4 and X5 printer series, including E5-36 and DualCon.

For printers already shipped and installed, the 32bit/XP-version is available as an upgrade package.

Ekra will upgrade the existing system by exchanging the computer followed by calibration of the vision alignment system.

With regard to hardware, a preinstalled network interface card under Windows XP offers the operator options to integrate the printer quickly and easily into a network, or to connect to the Internet.

Programming can be carried out offline, without interfering with the production process.

Programs can be easily uploaded to the printer, or upgraded via the Internet.

Remote diagnosis problem solving, via the Internet, saves considerable time and money.

On average, PCB handling times are reduced by 1.0s per board.

A preinstalled CD writer allows for easy backup of programs and system parameters, which can also be saved over the network.

The software capitalises on the high performance of the latest generation PCs and the support of advanced interfaces such as USB and peripherals such as scanners or printers.

The system also allows the installation of additional software like Excel or Access and other software tools.

With the user panel, an administrator can access the different user levels on the operating system level.
