Unveiled this week by Scottevest, the SeV Tactical VC jacket incorporates ElekTex, Eleksen's groundbreaking intelligent and interactive fabric.

Unveiled this week by Scottevest, the SeV Tactical VC jacket is part of the company's 4.0 Series of technologically enabled clothing (TEC) and incorporates ElekTex, Eleksen's groundbreaking intelligent and interactive fabric, which lets the wearer change the volume of their iPod, simply by touching the integrated controls on their sleeve The volume controls in the jacket are made from ElekTex, an entirely fabric switching technology, which contains no hard components whatsoever - even the connections are made using conductive fabric ribbon cables

The unique benefits of ElekTex offers manufacturers include extreme durability, washability and flexibility.

The fabric is also breathable, pierce resistant and semitranslucent, allowing controls to be used in ways previously not possible.

ElekTex volume controllers are ready-to-integrate, meaning that OEMs can build them straight into any suitable garment, backpack or other fabric product, to provide a remote control for an iPod or other MP3 player.

Scottevest has already taken advantage of this technology by selecting the ElekTex volume control as a component to incorporate into its SeV Tactical VC jacket.

Scott Jordan, Scottevest CEO and Founder adds: "ElekTex was the perfect choice for this all-weather product".

"The controls are durable and waterproof, but also thin and lightweight, making them ideal for a jacket that will be worn in all conditions".

"We are proud to be working with Eleksen to make wearable technology a reality today".

Scottevest's Version 4.0 Series strengthens its position as a market-leading manufacturer of wearable technology.

Series 4.0 represents a move towards a more stylish, youthful look that brings technologically enabled clothing into the mainstream.

All 4.0 products feature the company's patented Personal Area Network (PAN), which allows users to link up their personal electronic devices to the clothing items without any visible wires or connections.

The jacket has 40 pockets and compartments, is waterproof, windproof and is constructed of a breathable exterior fabric and Coolmax mesh lining.

The jacket also features removable sleeves and hood, as well as the ability to zip in the SeV fleece liner, making it the perfect all season jacket.

Other key features include: personal area network, SeV solar panel compatibility and built-in volume control provided by integrated ElekTex controls in the sleeve.

The Tactical VC will be available from September 2005, in black, for $309.99 from www.scottevest.com.
