In addition to a choice of vertical and horizontal mounting with ordinary through-hole pins, snap-in pins are also available, as well as both gull wing and J-hook surface mount versions.
The C74 is available in eight different shaft styles and seven colours, with standard printing options backed up by Elma's custom design service.
All switches are fully washable and rated to withstand reflow temperatures, with surface mount types provided in two sizes of tape-and-reel packaging.
All except the integrated shaft versions are suitable for automated assembly/pick-and-place.
However, for volume manufacturers needing shaft format, a special version has been developed, with a separately supplied shaft to snap easily and accurately into place after reflow is complete.
To suit the widest range of applications, the switches can be supplied either with a screwdriver slot, integral knob, push-on shaft or snap-in shaft, with position indication being provided by a moulded arrow, a machined slot, or a printed arrow and numbers.
The subminiature C74 family is designed for butt mounting to further reduce space, and features precision indexing to ensure accurate positioning of the non-shorting switch mechanism.
In addition to the standard models, a long-life unit is available with a rated life in excess of 1000 rotations.
The gold-plated contacts deliver a resistance of less than 100milliohm and a capacitance of less than 2pF, while having a rated current of 0.1A and maximum switching voltage of 30V.
The temperature rating of the C74 is 260C during soldering or reflow, and from -50 to +125C for operation.
The range is also vibration rated to 50g from 10-500Hz.
