Funworld comes to Elo for touchscreen terminals

An Elo Touchsystems product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 19, 2001

Elo TouchSystems has been selected by funworld ag to be the exclusive supplier of touchmonitors and touchscreen systems for funworld's full line of Photo Play and Touch2Web terminals.

Elo TouchSystems, the global leader in touch technology and a unit of Tyco Electronics, has been selected by funworld ag, the world's largest manufacturer of touchscreen games, to be the exclusive supplier of touchmonitors and touchscreen systems for funworld's full line of Photo Play and Touch2Web terminals.

funworld ag will ship all its new SPIRIT 2.1 and Touch2Web terminals with a new 19in computer-grade CRT chassis touchmonitor developed by Elo.

These monitors feature Elo's breakthrough iTouch "touch-on-tube" technology in a ready-to-install touchmonitor.

With iTouch, Elo has eliminated the traditional touchscreen overlay so game graphics appear brighter and sharper with no added reflections.

funworld has also converted its Photo Play bartop terminals, the SMART 2.1 and BARRY 2.1, to Elo's IntelliTouch technology based on pure glass touchscreen overlays.

Elo has worked closely with funworld for nearly a year to perfect its core surface wave touch technology for use in gaming machines.

The result is a touchmonitor that delivers perfect graphics performance, fast touch response, and remote monitoring features, with reliable performance even when subjected to the types of spills and abuse that can occur in gaming environments.

Josef Ohlinger, funworld's President, commented: "At funworld our emphasis is always on the players.

While Elo had the primary role in developing the technology, we worked closely with them to perfect it for our market.

Our side-by-side field comparison tests show players prefer the new iTouch and IntelliTouch technology over capacitive touchscreens in virtually every category surveyed: brightness, clarity, speed, sensitivity, lack of errors, feel, and-most important-fun!".
