EDS directors, four each from NEDA, ECA and ERA, establish policy and develop plans for the Electronic Distribution Show and Conference.
They serve without compensation, and are typically chosen for their leadership in their own companies and associations, and for their ability to articulate the needs of their industry niches.
Terms are three years, with an option of another three years, except that a director who serves as president of the Show Corporation in his or her sixth year of service is retained for an additional year to serve on the EDS Executive Committee.
After a hiatus, a director may return to the board, as is the case with Calabria, who previously served from 1995 to 2001.
Gerald M Newman, EDSC Executive Vice President, praised the three EDS sponsoring associations for the calibre of individuals they have chosen to guide EDS into the future.
"We need this regular influx of new directors to the show corporation to assure a regular influx of new ideas, just as we need the perspective and continuity provided by having the association CEOs sitting with and advising the board", Newman said.
The association executives serving as nonvoting participants in EDS planning are Robin Gray, NEDA, Robert Willis, ECA, and Tom Shanahan, ERA.
EDS 2007 will be held from 15th to 17th May at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.
