Motion detector IC turns the lights on

An Elmos Semiconductor product story

Fully integrated motion detector for PIR sensors incorporates brightness control for lighting circuits.

Available now from Elmos Semiconductor, the E910.84 is a fully integrated motion detector for PIR sensors which incorporates brightness control for lighting circuits.

The IC reduces the number of external components required to an absolute minimum while still offering maximum interference resistance.

Internal circuitry compensates for ambient temperature variations, and the whole IC features particularly low power consumption.

A novel analogue input enables direct connection of PIR sensors with no need for external signal processing.

The device has been designed for load switching using a triac in two- and three-wire applications, allowing the brightness to be controlled by motion detection.

So, for example, basic or emergency lighting can be designed whereby the light is softly turned on by motion detection.

Smooth fading from "light off" to an individual brightness parameter is also adjustable - an option often used in private houses for night lighting.

The values for on/off transitions as well as the brightness can be freely defined.

In addition the E910.84 has a relay output for controlling other applications.

The on-time duration can be defined just as with the triac control.

A LED output signals each motion detected.
