Embedded Data Systems will launch the latest additions to its popular SolderStar range of products at both Nepcon UK and Nepcon Shanghai 2004.

Responding to the increasing demands for lead-free thermal profiling, combined with the widespread use of BGA and uBGA package types, the new SolderStar Neptune-12 data logger allows profiling of up to 12 locations on a test PCB.

Featuring a new and innovative quick connection system, SmartLink allows users to quickly and easily construct robust and flexible test platforms.

Designed for permanent connection to a test PCB, the SmartLink system simplifies thermocouple attachment, reduces test jig damage and eliminates channel mix-up problems.

No prior PC setup is required, as the SmartLink module contains all the information required for the profile capture to be performed, resulting in error free profiling runs and reducing the skill level required.

Once data have been captured, the test harness can be quickly disconnected from the data logger to allow downloading to a PC.

Captured profile data includes a unique test ID, allowing the Profile Central PC software package to automatically store test information in its profile database, providing a complete history for each product.
