Software simulates reflow oven profiles
Profile Seeker is an inexpensive software utility that allows the SMT engineer to simulate reflow oven heater and belt-speed changes and view the resultant effect to the reflow profile.
Accurate temperature profiling is performed by the data-logger using dedicated thermocouples premounted on PCB simulation areas.
These provide top-side preheat profiles for the left and right side of the conveyor as well as bottom side and solder bath temperature.
Additional thermocouple channels are provided to allow real on board temperatures from a product to be measured simultaneously.
A second high-speed measurement system located inside the intelligent carrier, captures wave interaction by way of special contacts mounted on the underside.
This approach is claimed to offer increased accuracy and repeatability over systems that try to measure these parameters indirectly with thermocouples.
Protected by an insulated cover, the Neptune data-logger remains cool even with the increased preheat and solder pot temperatures seen in lead free soldering.
At the end of a run the data logger can always quickly and safely be detached from the hot fixture for download and analysis.
The system includes the intelligent carrier, data logger and companion Wave Central PC software, which provides automatic process parameter extraction and checking, and includes integrated SPC charting.
For customers with both wave and reflow requirements, an optional Reflow Pack is available which allows the data-logger from the WaveShuttle to be used for reflow profiling as well on up to 12 channels.
