Swinghandles evolve to safer design
The 1100 series of swinghandles from Emka is developing to meet the needs of specialist panel builders in the UK.
The 1100 series of swinghandles from Emka is developing to meet the needs of specialist panel builders in the UK.
This hugely flexible range provides a structured set of key options, a number of fixing hole formats and the ability to interchange most application components between different models, such as rod systems, cams, cylinders and key options, to suit the needs of OEMs and installers.
Now 1100 series handles have been developed for integral operation with Emka's innovative electronic lock system.
A parallel development has been the recent introduction of the 1154 type as a vandal-resistant handle in both die-cast and stainless steel.
Both have the handles recessed into the cabinet for additional security.
The 1100 range has developed over many decades to give an extensive coverage of customer requirements - based initially on "the right sized handle to suit the door".
There are now five aesthetic groupings to suit different cabinet styles.
Swinghandles were originally designed by Emka for improved safety, looks and ergonomics.
Recent progress has been with a focus on safety by even further reducing the front protrusion when closed - such that now a 9mm thickness is normal.
Continuous evolution of such a dynamic product series has permitted the incorporation of many specialist variants, such as push button, non-keyed, padlockables, combination locks, electronic lock and now more than 16 cylinder variants - including the ability to accept other manufacturers cylinders.
This is often required by large national users to meet specific security policies or for national/international organisations seeking to standardise their security arrangements.
Custom developments compliment the standard modules, eg by use of standard components in a custom designed body to meet special design criteria.
Thus using differentiated body styles to provide OEM brand recognition and features such as customer logo and corporate colours for mouldings or paint finishes.
Current designs of 1100 swinghandles incorporate PUR polyurethane expanded foam gasket precision injected for enhanced sealing and longevity - also greatly aiding speed of installation.
