Development platform has educational aims
The EmbestUniversity is a teaching platform focused on embedded system development.
The flexible design is based on a tiny CPU board mounted on a carrier board.
The Mini2410-III CPU board has an ARM9 CPU, 64Mbyte of SDRAM, 64Mbyte of NAND Flash, 2Mbyte of NOR Flash and 128Kbyte of SRAM, and implements most of the functions of the EM104V1.
The carrier board offers additional features, such as: Ethernet, a keyboard interface and two channels of CANbus.
Data transmission between the carrier board and the CPU board is via a 4mm-high 0.6mm-pitch 140-pin board-to-board connector, and a broad line of peripherals interfaces have been brought out, including ADC, PWM, LCD/TSP, UART, IIS, SPI, watchdog, I2C, USB, SD/MMC, JTAG etc.
Up to 40 I/Os have been extended, 34 of which are derived from CPLD and other six are from the CPU board.
The EM104V1 incorporates PC/104 and PC/104+ expansion connectors for interfacing with a wide range of standard peripheral cards.
Embest offers an Ethernet port expansion board and accessories like dual-port USB cables and serial cables to help customers use the board.
The board comes with a Linux 2.6.14 board support package, and many drivers like Ethernet, USB host, serial ports, SD/MMC, audio, I2C bus, SPI, ADC and PWM are available.
