Shrinking Swiss stepper motors

An EMS product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 13, 2001

Electro Mechanical Systems offers the entire Faulhaber Group range including Arsape micro-drive two-phase stepper motors and associated products.

Electro Mechanical Systems offers the entire Faulhaber Group range including Arsape micro-drive two-phase stepper motors and associated products such as precision gearheads, drive electronics and encoders.

The units are ideal for optical devices and micro positioning systems.

There are three stepper motors available, the smallest of which is just 8mm diameter.

The others are 10 and 15mm, respectively.

At just 13.8, 15.8 and 16.5mm lengths, the motors, which use NdFeB as the magnet material, offer power and performance in incredibly compact packages.

In fact the 8mm model is the world's smallest stepper motor for servo systems or motion control applications.

It is no accident that Arsape is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the heart of the Swiss watchmaking industry.

Four planetary and two low backlash spur gearheads are available in 8,10,12,15 and 16mm diameter.

The spur gearheads are ideal for positioning control applications.

Two magnetic encoders and a series of three drive electronics packages complete the range.

Continuous torque varies between 60 and 300mNm while intermittent torque is in the 120 to 450mNm range.
