UK WEEE delay offers chance for advice
During the delay to the implementation of the WEEE Directive Envirowise is urging UK companies to take advantage of free advice to help them prepare for the new legislation.
As an immediate review of progress on the implementation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) is announced by the Government, Envirowise is urging companies to take advantage of free advice available to help them prepare for the new legislation The directive will introduce producer responsibility for the collection and treatment of products at their "end of life" to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic waste going into landfill

Companies can receive free on-site guidance on cleaner design, including how to update products and processes to achieve environmental improvements and cost-savings, as well as advice on legislation.
Envirowise Programme Director Martin Gibson commented: "The WEEE Directive poses a real challenge to producers and effective implementation requires significant planning and preparation".
"Businesses need to start changing processes now if they are to meet the requirements of the new legislation".
