IP report to cover more categories

The EDA Consortium and the VSI Alliance have worked together to expand the EDA Consortium's Market Statistics Service's Semiconductor Intellectual Property revenue reporting.

The EDA Consortium and the VSI Alliance (VSIA) have worked together to expand the EDA Consortium's Market Statistics Service's (MSS) Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) revenue reporting.

As a result, the Q1 2004 industry revenue report, to be published at the end of June, will add over 40 new categories based on the VSIA's Virtual Component Transfer (VCT) product classification.

The EDA Consortium's MSS report is the most timely EDA revenue report in the electronics industry and VSIA's VCT is the industry standard for SIP product classification.

"The EDA Consortium is addressing a strong need in the industry for accurate and timely SIP revenue reporting", said Michael Kaskowitz, VSIA President.

"In support of these efforts, we are providing the Consortium with the broadly-adopted VSIA VCT standard that defines SIP categories for consistent reporting".

"The co-operative effort between VSIA and the EDA Consortium makes the MSS report a more comprehensive document, which will benefit both the IP industry and current Consortium members", said Walden C Rhines, Chairman of the EDA Consortium and chairman and CEO of Mentor Graphics Corp.

"The increased granularity provides accessible in-depth data which we anticipate will receive widespread use".

The EDA Consortium SIP reporting categories will increase to over 40 from six.

Some of the new macrocells and core categories include: physical libraries; memory; arithmetic, mathematic and logic functions; interface and peripheral cores; codec and encryption cores; graphics, image and audio cores and processor and DSP cores.
