Epcos has expanded its tantalum electrolytic capacitor range with two new types, plus extensions to some existing models.

Epcos has expanded its tantalum electrolytic capacitor range with two new types, plus extensions to some existing models The new products are designed to meet industry demands for ever-smaller case sizes and lowest possible equivalent series resistance (ESR)

All the products are included in a comprehensive new data book designed to assist both specifiers and engineers with applications for tantalum chip electrolytic capacitors.

In addition to comprehensive individual product details, the data book also features characteristic curves and a large section containing general technical information.

One of the new introductions is a low-profile series that gives a choice of two insertion heights; 1.5mm for case sizes W and X, or 2mm for case size V.

All variants are available in standard form or as low ESR versions.

Either tinned or gold plated terminals can be selected.

Rated voltages are 6.3 to 35V for standard versions, and 6.3 to 20V for low ESR versions.

Capacitance values are up to 330uF for standard parts and 220uF for low-ESR parts.

The other new product type to be introduced is a case size E range of multiple anode ultra-low-ESR parts.

A quoted maximum ESR value of 35mohm makes these products suitable for the most stringent applications.

Terminals are available either tinned or gold plated.

Voltage ratings are between 4 and 16V, capacitance values range between 220 and 680uF.

The EPCOS range of tantalum electrolytic capacitors gives excellent solderability, high resistance to shock and vibration and can be used without a series resistor.

They lend themselves to applications in many industry sectors including telecommunications, automotive and power supplies.
