Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 29, 2003

A new range of PTC thermistors is specifically designed for degaussing cathode ray tubes.

Epcos has a new range of PTC thermistors specifically for degaussing cathode ray tubes (CRTs).

The new thermistors have a very high temperature coefficient and are designed for thermistor current limiting circuits connected to the internal degaussing coils found in all CRT displays.

The devices are available in a wide variety of packages, voltage supplies and resistances, facilitating optimum product selection.

The new PTC thermistors are available in a wide variety of packages covering coated disk, PBT and phenol resin versions.

Coated disk resistors are provided for 140 V supply with rated resistances of 3.5 and 10ohm, or for 265V supply with a rated resistance of 9ohm.

PBT packaged devices are supplied in a 2-pin version for 140V supply with a rated resistance of 3ohm.

Phenol resin packaged units are provided in 2-pin form for 140V supply, with versions rated at resistance of 3 or 5ohm, and for 265V supply with resistances of 4.5 or 7ohm.

Additionally, 3-pin versions of phenol resin packaged devices for 265V supply with rated resistances of 4.5 and 7ohm are offered.

The temperature range of the new PTC thermistors is from -25 to +125C.
