Varistors handle more power in less space
Epcos has strengthened its EnergetiQ range of high-quality disc varistors with the addition of the Q14/Q20 series.
Epcos has strengthened its EnergetiQ range of high-quality disc varistors with the addition of the Q14/Q20 series.
The new devices deliver gains in miniaturisation and performance, with increased load capacity for the given size, and an extended voltage range.
This makes the devices ideal for applications such as power supply units, transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) modules and ballast.
With the introduction of the Q14/Q20 series, the EnergetiQ range's voltage span has been extended from 130 to 680V RMS.
The Q14 series delivers the equivalent electrical performance of the previous Epcos S20 range of varistors, but requires less space, while the Q20 provides 25% higher electrical performance than the older S20 and E3 ranges which occupy an equal amount of board space.
The range's electric strength is 2.5kV RMS and insulation resistance 10mohm, both in accordance with CECC42 000.
Operating temperature range for the devices is -40 to +85C and they have full UL, CSA and CECC approvals.
