Cutting the cost of ferrite cores
Recent advances in materials technology has enabled Epcos to offer designers an additional, low-cost coil former for its E30 ferrite cores.
Recent advances in materials technology has enabled Epcos to offer designers an additional, low-cost coil former for its E30 ferrite cores Following a redesign-to-cost approach, Epcos has produced a substitute for the established coil former in the E30 core and the new version, with post-inserted pins, offers significant price advantages
The new coil former is made of Sumikon PM9630 thermosetting plastic, a material that has proved very successful in other product types.
The material is distinguished by an improved resistance to soldering heat and a higher insulation capability than the plastic used before.
Variants with different pin outs are available on request.
As the new E30 coil former involves a change in both production technology and material, it has been assigned the new code B66232W1010D1.
