This year's Southern Electronic seminar programme delivers insight into the legislative and business environment facing electronics enterprise today.

The Southern Electronics show has released its free seminar programme for 2008.

The show's new venue at Farnborough will provide the setting for a busy two-day programme of sessions aimed at anyone involved in electronics, component sourcing or electronic assembly.

The Southern Electronics Show free seminar programme is an opportunity for visitors and exhibitors to take part in a range presentations, each delivered by experts in their respective fields.

This year's seminar programme delivers insight into the legislative and business environment facing electronics enterprise today.

Bob Willis, an expert on lead-free issues, hosts a key-note discussion on achieving practical process and product reliability in the post-RoHS world.

Richard Eden of RS Components continues the lead-free theme with a look at the future challenges faced by buyers and suppliers and how other countries are adapting to the RoHS regulations.

Barry Morris of Advanced Rework Technology will present a review of the latest IPC Standards and how they will affect the production and inspection of electronic assemblies.

The latest requirements for CE marking are explored by Mike Foster of the CE Marking association, while Leigh Holloway of Envirowise looks at WEEE and the implications for business.

Holloway will also present a session on the new Reach directive and how it will effect manufacturing and electronics.

Bob Willis will also present a look at the issue of component counterfeiting - highlighting the dangers and some of the practical steps businesses can take to avoid being caught out.

Other business-oriented sessions will include advice on how to succeed at new product development, given by Michael West of MAS-SE and an examination by Neil Stanton of BSI Product Services, of how robust supply chain management can help meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Attendance at all the seminars is free and open to all visitors and exhibitors at Southern Electronics and Manufacturing.

Visitor pre-registration for the event and seminars, together with full event information, is available online.

Farnborough International Venue and Events (FIVE) offers plentiful free car parking, easy access by road, rail or air and an excellent selection of local hotels and restaurants.

Running alongside the Southern shows will be a new attraction, Auto Aero 2008, a show aimed at specialist aerospace and automotive engineering suppliers.
