Chinese centre opens for business

Esmertec has officially opened its R and D and customer support centre in Chengdu, China.

Esmertec China held the official opening ceremony for its R and D and customer support centre in Chengdu, China on 5th July 2005.

The opening ceremony was attended by over 120 people including over 20 European and Japanese guests consisting of journalists and investors as well as members of Esmertec's board of directors and senior management.

"China is an important market for Esmertec", said Jean-Claude Martinez, COO of Esmertec.

"The opening of the R and D centre in Chengdu is a key milestone for Esmertec China to provide software solutions for the region as well as to the international markets through leveraging Esmertec's global sales network".

In January 2005, Esmertec acquired the mobile assets and experienced sales and R and D team of CoreTek Systems.

"We have successfully integrated the CoreTek mobile team in Esmertec China", commented TC Hsi, CEO of Esmertec China.

"As of today, we have 85 employees and expect to grow to around 100 by the end of the year".

"With a strong local sales force combined with an experience software development and customer support team, we are set to grow with the market in China and in the region".

Professor Luo Lei, CTO of Esmertec China said: "With the R and D centre in Chengdu, we look forward to delivering innovative mobile software products and customer project engineering services to handset and embedded device manufacturers, reference design houses and chipset manufacturers in the region".
