Esmertec has developed and delivered an extension testing platform to China Mobile Communications Corporation (China Mobile) in accordance with an exclusive agreement signed by both companies.

The testing platform, otherwise known as China Mobile's Extension Testing System (CETS), will serve to verify that all mobile handset are tested and compatible with China Mobile's Java 3.0 specification.

Handset vendors will be provided the test platform after they sign an agreement with China Mobile.

For mobile handsets which want to enable access to Mybox, the most popular and only Java application download platform of China Mobile, the handsets have to be sent to China Mobile and pass CETS before shipment.

The testing and certification of applications and handsets is an international practice to ensure the high quality demanded by the consumer market and mobile users.

China Mobile's 3.0 Java specification is based on international Java software standards with additional features tailored for the China market.

"We are honoured that China Mobile has selected Esmertec as their exclusive partner to provide this testing platform for the next 2 years due to our excellent software development expertise and skills", said Luo Lei, CTO of Esmertec China.

"Through this agreement, Esmertec has gained valuable know-how on China Mobile's Java 3.0 specification and we will be able to offer valuable testing and certification services for handsets operating on China Mobile's network".

"We will continue building on the trust and confidence that China Mobile has in our solutions and work with them to define and develop China Mobile' Java specifications in the future".
