Its immediate availability with Ajar will enable handset manufacturers to reduce time spent on customisation and testing and as a result will reduce overall product development lead times.
In addition, the close integration with existing Ajar functionality will enable manufacturers to take advantage of Ajar's powerful toolset to ensure the consistent delivery of different handset themes, language capabilities, font properties, graphics and settings across multiple handsets and all software including the Java applications.
"We have selected Esmertec's Jbed as our lead Java solution as Jbed is a mature product that is widely accepted by operators and well adapted for the requirements of mass market handsets", commented Gordon Neish, Java Product Manager for TTPCom.
"We believe that the pre-integration of Jbed Advanced will reduce the time that handset manufacturers now spend on integrating Java into their applications".
"Platform pre-integration and support for Ajar UI will really help customers create a more consistent user interface", said Anne-Marie Larkin, CTO at Esmertec.
"The work we have done with TTPCom will shorten development cycles for handset manufacturers".
"Having been extensively tested on multiple chipset offerings, the Jbed on Ajar solution will provide handset manufacturers a wide range of choices regardless of which chipsets they use, giving them real product design advantages compared with other solutions".
Support for this product from both Esmertec and TTPCom is global, so that customers implementing the product can rely on local support teams around the world to help them with deployment.
The product offering consists of a wide range of JSRs ranging from JSR 184 (3D graphics) to JSR 177(security).
Demonstrations of Jbed Advanced will be available on the TTPCom stand (Hall 1 Stand C67) and on the Esmertec stand (Hall 2 Stand F23) at 3GSM Barcelona in February 2006.
