Users of Tanner EDA mixed-signal design tools now have easy access to X-Fab IC fabrication facilities following the introduction of support for the tools in free development kits from the foundry.

X-Fab is the first foundry to support Tanner EDA.

The design kit enables engineers to cut development time, cost and risk by providing ready-made design rule checks, layer set ups and both digital and analogue IP.

The kit is available in two versions, the Master Kit and the Master Kit Plus.

Both versions contain documentation, a set of software programs and utilities, and digital and I/O libraries which contain full front-end and back-end information for the development of digital, analogue and mixed-signal circuits.

Tutorials and application notes are also included.

The Master Kit Plus additionally provides a set of general-purpose analogue functions such as bandgaps, op amps, comparators, oscillators, ADCs and DACs.

Tanner EDA software encompasses layout, verification and electronic simulation for analogue and mixed-signal IC, MEMS and integrated optical designs on the Windows platform.

Tanner's L-Edit Pro and T-Spice Pro provide a complete design flow including schematic entry, waveform probing, full-custom layout editing, placement and routing, LVS and DRC verification, netlist extraction and circuit simulation.

Customers include ASIC design companies, fabless semiconductor companies and IC design consultants.

The tools are mostly used to design devices for telecom, sensing, human interface, automotive, embedded control, metering and MEMS applications.

X-Fab is an independent mixed-signal foundry with headquarters in Erfurt, Germany.

The company has three manufacturing sites: X-Fab Semiconductor Foundries in Erfurt, Germany; X-Fab UK in Plymouth, UK; and sister company X-Fab Texas in Lubbock, USA.

With a capacity of 8000 8in equivalent wafer starts per week, X-Fab provides comprehensive technical support from the early design stages through to fabrication and the coordination of test and assembly.
